Kathy’s Music & Movement offers joyful, engaging classes and camps for babies through 9 years, led by longtime maestro educator, Kathy Hayden. For 27+ years, families have trusted our warm, nururing environment where chidlren build confidence, creatvity, coordination and connection through the power of music.

From first songs to growing instrument skills, each program is thoughfully designed to support development while honoring the naturual rhythm of your child. It’s a place we celebrate your child’s childhood!

Santa Barbara and Carpinteria Music and Movement Camps and Classes — Join Kathy’s Music and Movement for joyful, enriching music classes in Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. We offer engaging small group parent-child music classes for babies, toddlers, preschoolers, as well as drop off preschool, TK and elementary instrument programs at our studio, and in the schools — designed to build confidence and real musical skills. Each class supports children’s cognitive, social and emotional development through multicultural music, dance, rhythm, and creative movement and hands-on instrument exploration. Our dynamic summer camps (ages 4-9y) provide a small group, playful learning in a fun and nurturing environment.

Music & Movement Classes

Movement is the key to learning Music! Our research-based curriculum blends singing, dancing, multicultural songs, and hands-on instrument play in a joyful, engaging environment. Children discover freedom, self expression, and creativity while building real music foundations — all guided by lively, dedicated and talented music teachers. Watch your child light up with a LOVE of Music!

Instrumental Play Classes

Powerful learning happens through hands-on instrument exploration. What makes our studio unique is the wide variety of instruments that families can hear, see, touch and play — far beyond just singing or playing one instrument. Through interactive games and ensemble experiences, budding musicians build real skills, confidence and cultural awareness in a safe and inspiring place guided by passionate teachers .

Summer Camps

Dynamic indoor-outdoor music camps filled with crescendos of inspiration and creative expression - all in the key of FUN! Campers laugh, connect with friends, sing along, move, and learn real music skills while drumming and playing with a wide variety of Instruments. They also will love to explore outdoor beautiful green spaces and play active musical games. Small groups and personalized attention, our half day camps will enrich the 4-7 and 5-9 year olds.

Birthday Parties

Looking for the birthday celebration? We create joyful, music-filled parties with singing, instruments, drums, parachute and engaging games designed for active fun. Hosted at our beautiful indoor-outdoor SB studio — or we can come to you! With personalized attention and magical moments, you, your family your child, and their friends will have a celebration to remember! Parties for 1-6yr (siblings welcome) $200/hour

OUR CLASSES

BABIES (4-18 mos)

Music is one of your baby's favorite ways to learn, bond and grow! In this sensory-rich class, you’ll sing, massage, bounce, explore gentle moves, and instruments together while strengthening connections and building early developmental foundations. With nurturing guidance, playful movement, and a warm community of families, we help spark your baby’s natural curiosity while also supporting rapid growing little brains.

TODDLERS (1.5 - 3.5 yrs)

We know your curious, energetic toddler loves to WIGGLE n MOVE — and Movement is the key to learning music at this age! Our joyful, high-energy class is filled with laughter, singing, dancing, drumming, and hands-on instrument play, all with purpose! As your child explores music alongside new friends (with a loving adult nearby), they’re building coordination, confidence, language and social skills — because Music is one of the most powerful ways young children learn. Each week your child will love singing, dancing, drumming, moving freely and playing instruments with their new friends and you nearby. In our classes, lots of important things are happening because Music is the best medium for all learning!

PRESCHOOL-TK -K (3.5-6 yrs)

A dynamic class with the best of everything in music - storytelling, singing, creative movement, partner games, and joyful instrument ensembles. Through hands-on music theory and playful exploration on xylophones, glockenspiels and ukulele, children build real musical skills while growing confidence, focus, collaboration and self expression.

ALL TOGETHER (1.5 - 5 yrs)

This joyful mixed-aged class brings children of different ages together to sing, dance, move freely and explore a wide variety of instruments — with you nearby. Littles learn by watching and imitating older friends, while bigger kids build confidence as gentle leaders, creating a rich and supportive multi level learning environment. With playful high-energy moments balanced by calm routines — all grow in listening skills, self expression, coordination and community — making this class a beautiful experience for siblings and individual children alike.

BIG KIDS- Instrument Play (5-8 yrs)

Budding young musicians come ALIVE in this engaging, small-group class where kids build focus, confidence, creativity, and real musical skills. It's all about your child’s unfolding authentic process. Students don’t just learn one instrument — they explore and collaborate together with keyboards, xylophones, percussions, drums and even a little ukulele while mastering the FUN-damentals of music theory. With just 4-5 per class, your child gets focused attention and meaningful guidance as they grow with their peers alongside.
